Recommendations For ALL Students:
Show up to class early-it is disrespectful to all teachers and students to disrupt class- if the class has begun wait until the period of meditation is over and there is movement in the room.
Drink plenty of water the day you intend to practice but not immediately before practicing.
Avoid heavy meals within two hours of practicing. Try fruit or nuts to satiate your hunger prior to practice.
Wear comfortable, comfortable & stretchy exercise type attire.
Yoga is practiced with bare feet. Please leave your shoes in the shelves provided by the front door.
Please avoid heavy perfumes or scented lotions.
Bring your valuables with you into the asana rooms, please make sure they are clear of your mat. Eyeglasses should be placed in their case- not on the floor!
Let the teacher know of ANY health issues such as pregnancy, joint, or back pain or injuries before class begins
It is ALWAYS appropriate to slow down, back off, take a rest and/or watch class if you need or want to.
For the comfort and consideration of our fellow yogis punctuality is appreciated.
Turn OFF cell phones in the studio- phones on vibrate are sure to disrupt your savasana/resting period at the end of class.
Do not assist anyone in class even if you know how. If someone looks like they are doing something unsafe, let the teacher know. This is for safety and insurance reasons.
If you are leaving early, ten minutes before you leave lie down and give yourself a savasana (final relaxation). Then sit up quietly for a moment before you leave.
Mats and blankets are available for your use if you do not have your own. There is a small mat rental fee of $2 for mats. It is recommended that that you purchase your own so that you may begin practicing at home as well.
Mothers-to-be can safely practice yoga during pregnancy, but a note form your doctor is required before participation in prenatal or other regularly scheduled classes. There are some modifications, so please let the instructor know. Prenatal classes are also available, see our Class Series Page for further details.
Women may practice during their period but should refrain from bandhas (internal muscular contractions) and inversions during menses.
Drink plenty of water after class.
