Dorothea Brandes RYT had begun a home practice after an injury to the cervical spine. She studied on her own for some time during recuperation before taking group classes and studying to teach. She has found her home in her Yoga practice. She is currently teaching at several Yoga studios and fitness centers. She has studied various styles of Yoga, including Vinyasa, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Viniyoga, Sivananda, and Integral. Her love for seniors has brought her to volunteer teaching chair Yoga to the residents in assisted living centers.

Dorothea is also certified to teach Prenatal, and Restorative yoga. She primarily teaches YogaFlow, an eclectic, versatile style of Vinyasa designed to make every student feel great. At this time, she is enrolled in an advance teacher training program, which focuses on Yoga therapy. Dorothea is extremely grateful to all her teachers, especially Dawn DeGraw, Gail Robertiello, Judi Spagnola, Darlene Cooper, Ana Source, Diane Speer, Elizabeth Bell, Dr. and Dawn Bump and every other teacher with whom she has had the pleasure to share the experience.

She truly knows that there is something to be learned from every teacher and student. She has attended several workshops and retreats at the Sivananda and Ananda ashrams, meditates regularly, reads and researches continually about Yoga. Additionally, she is knowledgeable about nutrition, healthy, natural living and Ayurveda. She is also a Reiki Level II practitioner which allows her to bring an added level of peace and well being to the classes.

Dorothea’s classes are fun and easily modified for students of every level, with a genuine caring for each and every student. She loves to share what she can with others and is extremely grateful for any opportunity to do so.
