“The pause - that impressive silence, that eloquent silence, that geometrically progressive silence which often achieves a desired effect where no combination of words, howsoever felicitous, could accomplish it.” – Mark Twain
Have you ever listened to an orator’s speech or an actor speak his lines and suddenly they pause? That silence, that space of infinite possibilities….. How did it make you feel? Were you on edge, anxious, fearful of what was to come? Were you excited, body leaning forward, eagerly awaiting the next words to carry you farther down their path? Or, did you turn inward, analyzing, feeling, dissecting the preceding words?
Sit. Breathe. When you reach the top of the inhale, pause. Sink into the silence. What affect does it have on you? Gently release and follow the exhale to the breath’s source and pause. What arises?
